About
Earlytrade is a construction payments platform that lets head contractors offer subcontractors optional early payment on approved invoices in exchange for a discount. Its supplier portal pulls approved invoices from the contractor's ERP so subcontractors can see upcoming payments and nominate a discount rate to be paid sooner; accepted offers are written back with an updated due date so they flow through the contractor's existing pay run, with no third-party funder and no change to contract payment terms. A companion Progress Claims module digitises payment claims, variations, retentions and compliance documents on an immutable ledger with per-jurisdiction Security of Payments workflows.
How teams use it
By audience
- Accounting & Finance
- Treasury deploys otherwise-idle cash against approved subcontractor invoices, earning a nominated discount instead of a term-deposit rate.
- AP teams field roughly 60% fewer inbound payment-status queries because subcontractors can see invoice status themselves.
- Accepted discounts and revised due dates write back to the ERP so the discounted invoice clears through the normal pay run.
- General Contracting
- Head contractors set the pool of cash available for early payment and adjust it as their working-capital position moves.
- Progress claims, variations and subcontractor compliance documents are certified in one workflow instead of email threads.
- Security of Payments Act deadlines are tracked per jurisdiction with automated reminders and escalations.
- Specialty Contracting
- Subcontractors see approved invoices and expected payment dates across every head contractor they work for.
- They choose whether to request early payment and at what discount rate, rather than accepting a blanket program.
- Variation status is visible as it moves, which cuts disputes over what was agreed on site.
- Executive Leadership
- CFOs and treasurers run early-payment discounts as a margin lever — Earlytrade markets a ~12% profit-margin uplift at a ~2.2% average accepted discount.
- Payment-behaviour signals across the supply chain feed insolvency-risk controls on live projects.
- Project Manager
- Project and commercial teams certify progress claims and approve variations in a shared workflow with a full audit trail.
- Variation and retention positions are visible mid-month rather than only at claim cut-off.
By phase
- Construction
- Monthly progress claims are submitted, certified and paid through the platform for the life of the build.
- Subcontractors pull cash forward mid-project when a shutdown or cost escalation squeezes their liquidity.
- Variations are logged and approved as they arise instead of being reconciled at the end.
- Closeout & Operations
- Final claims and retention releases settle through the same claim-and-payment record.
- The immutable claim, variation and compliance ledger is the audit trail when a payment dispute surfaces after handover.
