About
Kris is an AI coworker that answers plain-language questions across a construction company's project, financial, scheduling, CRM and safety data. It runs as a permissions-aware search layer over a unified construction data warehouse, so every answer is filtered to the rows a given user is allowed to see. Admins choose which tables Kris may search and can review what the company has asked.
How teams use it
By audience
- General Contracting
- Project teams ask for budget versus actual on a named job, or for every open change order above a dollar threshold, without opening the ERP.
- Office and field staff get the same answer from one place instead of searching project management, accounting and scheduling systems in turn.
- A GC running ten job systems queries them together rather than reconciling exports by hand.
- Specialty Contracting
- Trade contractors ask across project management and accounting at once: outstanding invoices for a vendor, or every commitment held with one subcontractor.
- Crews ask from a phone or a chat client on site rather than waiting for the office to pull a report.
- Labour and equipment questions can span the systems a specialty contractor runs without a data engineer in between.
- Owner/Developer
- Owners and developers ask about active and in-pursuit projects without chasing information across each third-party stakeholder's system.
- Past project performance is queryable rather than searchable, which is how cost-engineering opportunities get found for the next scheme.
- Answers reach a team that is usually between the office and a site, so nothing depends on sitting at a desk.
- IT & Systems Administration
- Admins define row-level permission groups that filter each table by condition or a raw SQL WHERE clause before Kris queries it.
- A Test as User mode confirms a group's filters return the expected rows before permissions go company-wide.
- Admins choose which systems and tables are in scope for Kris and can review what the company is asking it.
- Rolling out the Microsoft Teams bot is a Teams-admin task: an org-wide app allowance plus Entra ID admin consent.
By phase
- Pre-Construction
- Estimating and business-development teams query CRM and past-job cost data while pricing new work.
- Owners compare completed developments to find cost-engineering opportunities on schemes still in pursuit.
- Construction
- Teams ask which RFIs are past their due date, which submittals are still pending review, and for a summary of one RFI before responding to the architect.
- Schedule questions ahead of an OAC meeting: delayed critical-path activities, and procurement items that could move the date.
- Cost questions during the job: budget versus actual, open change orders over a threshold, and outstanding vendor invoices.
