Amazon Web Services
About
Amazon Web Services is Amazon's public cloud: compute, storage, database, analytics and AI services bought and run inside an AWS account. AEC firms and their software vendors use it mainly as data infrastructure, landing project files and data in Amazon S3 and querying them in Amazon Redshift. Those services have their own records in this catalog and are filed as extensions of this one.
How teams use it
By audience
- IT & Systems Administration
- IT teams create the AWS accounts, Organizations structure, billing and IAM roles that the firm's Amazon S3 buckets and Amazon Redshift warehouses run under.
- Admins issue the IAM credentials and bucket policies that construction platforms such as Procore Analytics and Autodesk's Construction Connect use to write project data into the firm's own S3 or Redshift.
- The same accounts host the GPU desktops and render farms some design firms run on AWS for Revit, 3ds Max and Maya.
