Amazon S3
About
Amazon S3 is AWS's object storage service, holding files of any size in buckets that are encrypted by default, with versioning and per-object access rules. Storage classes run from the single-digit-millisecond Express One Zone class to the Glacier archive tiers, and Intelligent-Tiering and lifecycle rules move objects between them as access changes. S3 is also the base layer of data lakes: S3 Tables hold Apache Iceberg tables and S3 Vectors holds vector embeddings, both queried in place by analytics and AI services. AEC firms and their software vendors use it as the storage behind their own platforms, data pipelines, model and point-cloud archives and long-term project records.
