Amazon Quick Sight
About
Amazon Quick Sight is AWS's business intelligence service for interactive dashboards, paginated reports and plain-language questions about data. Authors connect it to warehouses, databases, files in cloud storage and SaaS applications, either querying the source live or importing into its in-memory SPICE engine, then share dashboards or embed them in other applications. It sits inside Amazon Quick, AWS's AI assistant suite. In AEC it is the reporting layer a firm builds over project, cost and operations data it already keeps in AWS.
How teams use it
By audience
- Accounting & Finance
- Finance builds job-cost and work-in-progress dashboards from ERP data landed in Redshift or SQL Server, and schedules paginated reports to email.
- Executive Leadership
- Principals review cross-project dashboards on backlog, margin and utilisation built over the firm's warehouse rather than inside each project tool.
- Leaders ask plain-language questions of the same datasets and get a chart back without waiting for an analyst.
- IT & Systems Administration
- IT enables Quick Sight in the firm's AWS account, grants it access to Redshift, S3 and RDS, and sets up VPC connections to on-premises databases.
- Admins manage SPICE capacity and refresh schedules so project and cost datasets stay current without querying the source all day.
- IT embeds dashboards in the firm's intranet or client portal with the embedding API, and controls who sees what with row-level security.
