About

Amazon Business is Amazon's purchasing marketplace for organizations, selling supplies, tools and equipment from Amazon and third-party sellers at business-only prices. Administrators put buyers into groups and control spend with approval workflows, budgets, guided-buying policies and restricted products. Large orders can go out for quotes, and purchases can be paid on a business credit account and delivered to several sites. It connects to e-procurement, expense and accounting systems, so a cart built in Amazon Business is approved, ordered and reconciled in the buyer's own system. Contractors use it to buy job-site supplies, small tools and trailer equipment and ship them to each work site.

How teams use it

By audience

Accounting & Finance
  • Finance consolidates employee buying onto one business account and payment method instead of personal cards and expense claims.
  • Accounts payable reconciles Amazon Business orders with three-way match, e-invoices and line-item transaction detail.
  • Controllers pull Amazon Business purchases and receipts into the books or expense system rather than keying them by hand.
Procurement & Purchasing
  • Purchasing staff set approval workflows, budgets and guided-buying rules so site and office buyers stay inside policy on tail spend.
  • Buyers request quotes on large planned orders (over $10,000 or 999 units) before committing, per Amazon Business Request for Quote.
  • Procurement teams punch out from their e-procurement system so Amazon Business carts come back as requisitions for approval and a PO.

By phase

Construction
  • Field and office staff order consumables, small tools and site-trailer IT and furniture during the build and ship them to each work site.
  • Project buyers place repeat material orders against the schedule and track spend by group and budget while the job runs.
