About

Octave Sequence Enterprise (formerly EcoSys) is an enterprise project performance platform that unifies project portfolio management, project controls and project management for owners, operators and EPC contractors running large capital programmes. It covers capital budgeting and funding management, cost control, estimating, forecasting, earned-value management, change and risk tracking, resource planning and portfolio dashboards, pulling schedule progress from planning tools and actuals from ERP/GL systems so cost and schedule stay reconciled in one configurable no-code/low-code system.

How teams use it

By audience

Project Manager
  • Runs cost/schedule integration: P6 or MS Project progress lands next to committed and actual cost so EVM metrics (CPI/SPI) update without spreadsheet reconciliation.
  • Owns the monthly forecast — trends estimate-at-completion from earned value and remaining commitments rather than a hand-built Excel model.
  • Logs change orders, trends and risks against the project budget and sees the funding impact before they are approved.
  • Reports project status from one system that finance, scheduling and field data all feed, instead of three conflicting sources.
Executive Leadership
  • Sees a live portfolio dashboard of spend, forecast and performance across hundreds of capital projects and business units.
  • Runs what-if scenarios — deferring or resequencing projects — to test the portfolio impact before committing capital.
  • Compares project performance across divisions because Sequence forces common WBS, cost-code and change definitions.
  • Gets early warning on projects trending to overrun months ahead, rather than discovering it at invoice time.
Accounting & Finance
  • Pulls actuals, commitments, timesheets and invoices from SAP, Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards or Viewpoint into the project cost model.
  • Manages capital budgeting and funding approvals — authorised vs. committed vs. spent — against the project portfolio.
  • Reconciles project-controls cost against the general ledger from a single set of cost codes rather than a period-end mapping exercise.
  • Supports audit and compliance with a change-controlled history of budget, forecast and change-order approvals.
Owner/Developer
  • Governs a multi-year capital programme: project selection, funding allocation and stage-gate approvals in one register.
  • Holds EPC contractors to a common reporting standard by consuming their cost and progress data into the owner's cost model.
  • Tracks contingency drawdown and change exposure across the programme, not just per project.
  • Measures delivered vs. sanctioned cost at closeout to feed benchmarks for the next programme.

By phase

Concept & Planning
  • Builds the capital plan — candidate projects scored, funded and sequenced against the available budget envelope.
  • Holds top-down/parametric cost estimates for projects that have no detailed scope yet.
  • Models funding scenarios and portfolio balance before any project is sanctioned.
Pre-Construction
  • Converts the sanctioned estimate into the control budget and WBS/cost-code structure the project will be measured against.
  • Loads the baseline schedule from Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project and time-phases the budget against it.
  • Sets up contingency, escalation and cash-flow curves ahead of award.
Construction
  • Tracks committed, incurred and actual cost against budget as invoices and timesheets flow in from ERP.
  • Calculates earned value from schedule progress and reports CPI/SPI and estimate-at-completion each period.
  • Manages change orders, trends and claims through approval, updating budget and forecast on the way.
  • Feeds period cost and performance reporting to the owner and to executives from live data.
