About

Oracle Primavera Cloud is a cloud CPM scheduling and project-controls platform that unites the contract schedule with lean field task planning. It adds resource and capacity management, qualitative and quantitative (Monte Carlo) risk analysis, portfolio and capital planning, cost breakdown and cash flow, and configurable dashboards, with a mobile app for weekly work plans and daily huddles. Oracle positions it alongside — not as a replacement for — Primavera P6, exchanging schedule data with P6 via XER, native business flows and Primavera Gateway.

How teams use it

By audience

Scheduler
  • Builds and maintains the CPM contract schedule in the schedule module — activities, relationships, calendars, WBS and baselines.
  • Runs Monte Carlo quantitative risk analysis directly against schedule activities, with no bolt-on component or third-party tool.
  • Exchanges schedules with Primavera P6 via XER and with Microsoft Project via XML when a contract still specifies those formats.
  • Resource- and cost-loads activities from a central pool of labour, equipment and material to expose capacity conflicts across projects.
Project Manager
  • Runs one unified plan in which the field's weekly task commitments roll up against the contract schedule's milestones.
  • Owns the central risk register — qualitative scoring, pre- and post-response plans, and actual cost and schedule impacts as risks occur.
  • Tracks cash flow and the cost breakdown structure against the resource-loaded plan.
  • Configures project and workspace dashboards to report schedule health to the owner and the wider delivery team.
Superintendent
  • Runs pull-planning sessions on a digital network diagram with swim lanes, creating and managing handoffs between trades.
  • Publishes and prints the weekly work plan, then commits the sequence with the last planners in a one-click handshake.
  • Reviews percent plan complete (PPC) and reasons for missed commitments to tighten the following week's plan.
  • Links make-ready constraints to tasks — including Oracle Aconex work packages — so blockers are cleared before work starts.
Foreman / Field Supervisor
  • Runs the 15-minute daily huddle from the daily plan, marking tasks complete or recommitting them to a new finish date with a reason code.
  • Updates assigned tasks from the Primavera Cloud mobile app on the jobsite, online or off.
  • Reads the weekly work plan by swim lane or activity band to see which of the crew's tasks are committed for the week.
Owner/Developer
  • Prioritises and selects which capital projects to fund, using portfolio and capital planning against strategic objectives.
  • Watches schedule and cost risk exposure across the whole programme from portfolio-level dashboards and roll-ups.
  • Holds delivery teams to a contractual CPM schedule while seeing the field's short-interval commitments against it.
  • Licenses the dedicated Primavera Cloud Service for owners edition, sold separately from the delivery-teams service.

By phase

Concept & Planning
  • Owners score and select which projects enter the capital programme using portfolio and capital planning, before a design contract exists.
  • Planners build the early master schedule and test completion dates with quantitative risk simulation before commitments are made.
Pre-Construction
  • Schedulers develop the contract CPM schedule, set the baseline and resource-load it against the central labour, equipment and material pool.
  • The risk register is stood up — risk breakdown structure, scoring matrix and probability, cost and schedule thresholds — before work starts.
  • Existing P6 XER or Microsoft Project XML schedules are imported to seed the project rather than rebuilt from scratch.
Construction
  • Field teams run Last Planner-style pull planning, weekly work plans and daily huddles against the live contract schedule.
  • Progress and percent complete flow back from mobile task updates into the master schedule.
  • Risks are monitored and controlled, with actual cost and schedule impacts captured as they occur.
  • Schedule activities feed downstream systems — Aconex Connected Cost control accounts and Procore's Schedule tool.
